Wellness teas, what’s all the fuss about?
Wellness is a subject matter that seems to be everywhere at the moment with various influencers telling us if only we drank/ate/ applied a particular product our life would be complete. If only it were that simple. The fact is that lifestyle factors are always at play so there’s no one thing that will do this for you but there are mother nature’s helpers that you can adopt in your daily routine aside from good amounts of sleep, exercise and nutrition that will be the icing on the cake. This has led me to develop a range of wellness blends that can boost skin health, promote sleep and create a sense of calm or even energise. This isn’t pseudo science this is all well studied ancient remedies we relied upon before the big Pharmaceutical companies convinced us otherwise.
Mother Nature is a provider but of course caution should be taken before you go throwing a ton of supplements down every morning which in itself will challenge your kidneys and cause major issues. I baulk at the amount of crazy blends out there that throw the kitchen sink in including ashwagandha which has to be cycled so should not be taken daily and why on earth would you add that in a random coffee blend blows my mind, is the ratio correct, is it KSM66?, probably not. Gimmicky and potentially harmful, I’ll pass thanks. Don’t get me wrong Ashwagandha is something I’ve supplemented with when I’m aware my stress levels have been high, which as a woman of a certain age running a company is pretty frequently but I will always make sure I’m taking the correct type at the correct dosage and cycling and then swapping to Reishi when the stress is prolonged. I’m a big advocate of cramming in the fruit and veg and exercise has always been a part of my life I can’t imagine life without it. So, on the surface I’m doing all the right things along with sunscreen but I love a bit of research so beyond the obvious antioxidants that are present in coffee and tea what other properties does this drink category have to offer? Quite a lot it would seem and I’m not just talking Matcha here you can read about those benefits in my earlier blog. Botanical Bloom has been developed to promote skin health. Tea for skin, you bet! Hibiscus has been touted as natures botox of late and with good reason this little beauty contains natural AHAs and BHAs and Omega 3 and 6, Rosehip is high in antioxidants to fight free radicals, rose helps cellular renewal, jasmine blossoms for inflammation, calendula to promote healing, chamomile is another antioxidant with a side portion of calm promotion with the addition of blackberry leaves to naturally sweeten. This has no sugar as we know that is a killer for skin health. The liquor this tea produces is a pleasant cranberry like sweet/sour flavour which is great to brew hot or cold.
Our top wellness tea in terms of sales and it’s no surprise is Sleepy Blend Tea. Simply put, it works. Valerian root extract, chamomile and lemon balm work in harmony to bring about a sense of the soporific which will gently ease you in to a blissful sleep. I don’t know about you but I find over the counter sleep aids hold me in a suspension of disbelief for want of a better description but don’t help me sleep. The heavy duty types make me too groggy in the morning too, not ideal. However if you do need an energy boost then try our Energising Blend Tea. This is an Oolong tea base which is blended with another big hitter ginseng renowned for its natural energy boost and cognitive boosting benefits, ginger for a kick, nutrient rich Yerba mate. Immune Boosting Tea is a green tea base that contains echinacea and holy basil in its base both renowned to support immunity, elderflower relieves cold and flu symptoms and cloves to help fight infection. Anxie-tea was developed with a two pronged approach. The first two actives are passionflower and lavender which alleviate stress and induce calm in a caffeine free Rooibos base. Adding warmth from cloves, cinnamon and ginger with liquorice to sweeten this helps settle the stomach which can be overactive in times of stress. Chamomile, Rose and Lavender is not just a pretty face this trio is a beautiful aromatic tea that can be enjoyed anytime of day to help you unwind. Whilst not marketed as a wellness tea the Hibiscus and Strawberry Tea is also worth a mention as the mighty hibiscus not only is it great for your skin it naturally lowers blood pressure, how about that!
There’s answers in nature I always say, happy sipping until next time.
